News: Status Report

FreakinMeany FreakinMeany — October 17, 2008
You may have noticed that for a period there, the site's activity slowed to a crawl. There are currently 60 maps pending in the approval queue and I am getting to them as soon as I can. If you are still awaiting approval, I kindly ask for your patience.

Because Mapraider is a hobby of mine, and because the site donations aren't anywhere near enough to pay for the operation of the site (see the progress bar to the left on the home page), I'm forced to put real life duties on a much, much higher priority than Mapraider. If you'd like to see that change, please donate.

i'm pretty sure not many people are willing to donate, but maybe we can help in other ways?

people won't donate because every other site does it for free

    Sure you are right,
but why donate? how much the site must cost?

please at least validate the sumbitted maps :/

This situation is lamentable (sad), Perhaps the solution is to resort to inconveniences publicity to maintain your page active. Although sincerely, to nobody we like. All we want to see published and to share our work. Thank you for this page very attractive, ordinate and of easy use, really.
    Good luck

    :\

The mapraider format is easier to navigate than most others. I sincerely hope it stays around.

    1200?
LoL what and expensive site? why!
You could buy one for around 50euros/year with unlimited disk and bandwidth..

:( don't like this thread.. he isn't asking for you to donate 1200, I am sure if everyone downloading from him donated 5 dollars he would be fine. There are other expenses involved other then bandwidth and storage also so you know. Yea other sites let you download for free, but they are all a complete mess advertisements popping up in your face every time you click the download link. None of them are nearly as detailed either, you cannot even release a map here without having prepared a lot of information about yourself and your map not to mention several screen shots. One thing you can depend on is the fact that if you download a map from map raider you will know everything about it and the author of it also. To me that means a lot. I have downloaded several UT3 maps from epic forums to provide to players on my servers and the releases on epic more often then not don't even have a read me file, so if I go in and download ten or so maps by the time i get them into my system for testing etc. I don't even know who to credit or who to contact if there is an issue etc. I only wish the economy would ease up so I could donate a chunk of the 12, but I am having issues making ends meet myself. I will however donate 5 and hope some others will consider doing the same.

done .. and it didn't even hurt in the least! :)
