News: Build your OWN ownage list!

FreakinMeany FreakinMeany — July 16, 2003
I'm happy to announce that a new feature: Map Pick Lists

If you take a look at your user-bar (the buttons on the right just below the main navigation), you'll see a new button labeled "map picks." In this new area is where your favorite maps can be stored -- you know... those maps that you love to play and can't stop talking about.

What's cool is that anyone else can see your favorite maps by viewing your profile. Take a look at my profile to see what it looks like. In the new browse area we're working on, there will even be cool ways to browse through everyone's favorite maps for your favorite game systems (but more on that later).

So, how do you add maps to your pick list? From every map page, you'll also notice a new button labeled "add to my pick list" located just below the map's name. Click it, and the map will be instantly added.

If you have any comments or suggestions on this new feature, please feel free to click the "comment" button and post your thoughts!

Or pester your favorite author(s) to sign up and submit the maps themselves. ;) They probably have/know more links to their maps than you do, which is kinda half the point. Plus you can't add them to your "favorite authors" list until they do.

Most of them doesn't care about other mapping sites, thats the problem. :/ The UT vets always sticked to their PU website or Nalicity. While the quakers have Lvl at planetquake, as there're a lot more activities there. This place is too quiet for quakers especially. I'd tried to contact some guys, like fxr|jude, and lunaran, but either there's no responses or their emails are no longer valid. Can't get any info at CPM website either.

    DeRailer:

You probably already noticed that I've added a few of the maps you mentioned. I've got the rest ready to go, but I like to pace new ones to the site so each one has a chance to be on the home page for at least 12 hours or so. I also added the "Challenge ProMode" Q3A mod to the list of supported mods on the site.

I expect to see some of these in your pick list :D  ;)

Those UT maps are definitely in my favs (DM-Amon is by far one of my most favorite maps ever - I can't decide if I like the 1on1 version or this one the best tho).

AND THANK YOU for sharing some unbeliveable Q3Arena maps. I had never seen those, and they blew my socks off.

Yeah, it's tough to get ahold of those original Quakers and UT guys/gals. I've tried myself. Most go unanswered, like you said, but I was glad that Dubbilan got a chance to stop by.

It is really good that we have new Quake3 maps, we simply don't have enough of them.
Also, i would like to add about the shortage of Medal of honour maps. There really aren't enough of them around, maybe because there are hardly any Level editors out there or there are map website which domanate 'Raider for it's medal of honour??
I know this site is the best for mappers alround because you got people who can help you and also have access to the largest range of maps!

omg thx for adding them! I think I love you already. =D

    errm...you all right???

Hehe, I would also say that DM-Amon is a mint looking and playing map. Hourences should make a remix of it for 2k3. That would be awesome.

"Are you serious, JT, or just yanking my chain?"

Sorry FB, not sure how I missed this, but yes I was serious. When I clicked your "Take a look at my profile" link above, I was prompted to log in (via Windows authentication box), and got a "not authorized" message when I cancelled it. A couple minutes later I got to your profile just fine through your name link though, so I imagine the server just had a bit of indigestion.

Today I get a "Sorry, but you are not allowed to start threads in this forum topic." from Mapraider when I try to quote your post. Just in case you were really looking forward to a problem. ;)

DeRailer - I know what you mean. If enough people hound the ones that can be reached though, they're sure to break under the pressure! ;)
