News: Official Mapraider.com Map Submission Contest

FreakinMeany FreakinMeany — August 13, 2009
A few weeks ago I announced an unofficial map submission contest in celebration of opening up the submission system so that members could submit any maps they've found online. I'm happy to report that since then, over 290 new maps have been added to the system! Because of the overwhelming response, I thought it was important to make the contest more "official" and am announcing the details here:

Map Submission Contest Details

Any map you submit between May 31st and October 1st, 2009 (June, July, August, September) and that are approved will count towards the total amount of maps you have submitted. Prizes will be awarded to the first three top submitters:

• First Prize
• "Lifetime" subscription to Mapraider (ad-free visits, unlimited access to our high-speed, direct-download mirror, plus other goodies to be announced)
• Limited edition Mapraider T-Shirt
• Limited edition Mapraider Cap
• Limited edition Mapraider Mug
• Second Prize
• 5-Year subscription to Mapraider
• Limited edition Mapraider T-Shirt
• Third Prize
• 1-Year subscription to Mapraider
Need Maps To Submit?

I'm maintaining a list of maps from my personal collection that are on our three mirrors that haven't been added to the database yet. You may use this list for easy access to thousands of maps that you can submit -- just be sure to refresh the list often so that you don't submit a duplicate. Additional maps from a variety of game systems are still being added.

Other Rules and Info

• Map submissions that do not meet the submission guidelines and are not approved do not count.
• Periodic announcements of the current standings may be made, but are not guaranteed to be provided, nor to be accurate.
• If duplicate maps are submitted, the first member to have submitted the map will earn the credit.
• In the case of a tie, the date of the first map after June 1st that each member submitted will be used to make the determination of ranking.
• Subscriptions are for the individual winning members, are not transferrable and can be revoked if abused.
• To receive physical prizes (t-shirts, etc) winners will be required to provide a shipping address to be used for delivery of the prizes.
• The decisions of the judge (FreakinMeany) will be final.
• The contest, rules and prizes are subject to change at any time.

Thanks for finding those. I'm wondering if it's a package issue or something. Still looking into it. Here are the current rankings:
1. Firefly: 136 maps
2. MaxSterling: 98 maps
3. FB3: 55 maps

What are the results of the compo?
• FreakinMeany FreakinMeany — October 12, 2009
As of right now, and including a few pending approvals, the totals are:
1. MaxSterling: 160 maps
2. Firefly: 142 maps
3. FB3: 55 maps

*Edit

I had a mistake in my SQL query. Max only had 140 maps, not 160. Sorry.
