Okay, that was my initial reaction viewing this map. When I first saw the screenshots, i nearly fainted, then loaded her up, went for a drink (the "artistic" maps usually load a LONG time), but to my surprise it loaded quickly on my AXP 1800+/512DDR! Not something I anticipated from Angelhearts work. Nevertheless, every footstep in the map brought new sights to behold, truly this map is the "top masterpiece" in this moment. ;)

Visually breathtaking yes indeed. I gave this map a high rating on "construction" to reflect this.
"Gameplay" is somewhat different though. FPS is lowish and AngelHeart said he didn't do any optimizations. Which is a shame really. As this level could have easily been speed up, making it very good on gameplay as well.
Also the scaling seems to be off a bit, but apparantly this is only a visual flaw or sumtin as he followed real measurements, but they result in it looking off scale :/ You can see this by going in third-person.
If he'd scaled it up a bit so it looked not so small in first-person that would be a plus too.

Angelheart never build gameplay maps, well at least not for unreal and rune. Ever since he started on Unreal and UT, he build maps like they're models for some showcases. The only gameplay maps he build for are for Infiltration, and he did a darn good job with the engine. His work even got davidm's attention.(of course, the latter never have anything good to say, rofl! :D )
I accepted what angelheart does, after all it've been over 3 years since we(inf community) went crazy over his stuffs. He always have "realworld scale" before "flow". :)

If I'm not mistaken, he did some map work for Devastation...which has some cool real-world map work. Unfortunately, I'm not SURE he worked on it, so I could be wrong. DM-Breakfast2k3 was a gameplay map, and an art map...but yes, his strengths definately lie in the art maps, at least from what I've seen. If he DID do maps for Devastation, I'm going to run out and get it when I get the new PC next week.
And even unoptimized it runs very well on my cheap crappy machine. I was very surprised (pleasantly so) at how quickly this ran and played on my horrible gear! The gameplay is okay, but the design is so realistic and beautiful that the fact that you can get very immersed in this map very quickly almost more than makes up for the like of gameplay. If you're a fan of very tight gameplay, you'll like fighting in the narrow streets of this map even more. I will be keeping this map around for if no other reason than I expect that every time I play it, I will discover something new and cool that I missed before.
I wanna know if we'll ever get to see that way-cool looking Metropolis map I saw screenshots of...

Yah he worked on devastation with some of the Unreal/UT99 superstars, but his works were modified by the other level designers.
As for DM-Breakfast, it's a giant map and have no general gameflow. Many players like those but I'm bias to maps with hardcore gameflow. Giant maps feel very ordinary in terms of gameplay.
He seems to ran into a few problems with the Metropolis map. Can't remember what, but something driven him to forsake that map to work on 2019, I wasn't at the inf forum that time.

Darn... when I unzipped the thing it turned out to be corrupt. :[

DM-AChina is a really good looking map :O. It is extremely visually appealing and catches your eye as a masterpiece. This map isn't supposed to be played. It's supposed to be admired as an artwork, not a killing, fragging deathmatch. The bot AI is poor. Twice so far have I seen the bots get stuck on a ledge. I guess the author just made this map as a way to show others his artistic skill in 3d (which is very high!) 8)

Angelheart has a very cool way to show us his artwork :)

I've played this map several times, and I agree, it is visually appealing, but the gameplay suffers immensley in my opinion....I know some folks like tight cramped play, but I tend to enjoy maps that allow a little more freedom of movement. The outskirts of the town allows you to do that..but I find the map as a whole very crowded... I would rather play a map that is less of an artwork, if the gameplay is thought out well, after all, I'm downloading it to play, not to look at..to me a beautiful map that suffers from poor game play will not last long on the ole hd....Cheers...
