CTF-LavaFury beta, feedback needed please.

I have been working on a rebuild of a map I made for the ICE IG Clan. Some of you may be familiar with IceFury2. Well this map is derived from that one.

IceFury2 had some issues that needed to be dealt with. The visuals were not that great, and the layout although it worked had one area that allowed the flag carrier to camp out in relative safety. Well that is not the case anymore. Those upper "safe" areas have been removed. Although there are plenty of places to go there is not much that can be done when it comes to hiding. So you'll have to keep moving and evade the enemy if you want to cap the flag.

I have decided to post a beta of this even though IceFury2 was beta tested to death. I have changed so much of the map that the lighting and item placement may be a bit off. The flow should remain the same as IceFury2 though, so thay should not be an issue.

Anyways feedback good or bad is appreciated. Thanks in advance.

i checked this out, although i'm primarily a dm player and not ctf. btw, i didn't look at the previous build. the middle arena area with the lava and jumppads is cool, i liked the lighting/vibe in there and the layout is very easy to learn. i didn't notice any performance problems on my machine, but i do have a pretty high end card (geforce fx5800). geometrically speaking, i'd work on making the BSP match the texture (or vice versa), it's a bit strange having a bubbly, lava texture on the walls and such, since they're such well defined brushes. it takes away from that organic feel. know what i mean? (maybe use a terrain for the ceiling and walls?) not sure how much work you want to put into this. the doorways feel a bit like subtracted brushes to me as well, perhaps some trim would help with the definition? or maybe some meshes around the edges? maybe add some detail in the corridors as well, give the passerby's a bit o' eye candy and give the map a bit more purpose? bots seemed to take the same route each time with the flag too, but i didn't check out the pathing in the editor, and that could have been just blind luck. just some thoughts off the top of my head after a couple of rounds, take what you like, ignore the rest. :D

Okay. Thanks for the feedback. I'll take that all into consideration as I continue to work on the map.
