Some "Maps for Dummies" stuff...

I appreciate this fine site and the hard work of all the great mapmakers! I'm a geezer, but I've been a hardore gamer since the early '80's.

For those who, like myself, aren't up on ALL the jargon could someone publish a simple explanation to the letter codes used in the UT 2004 series? I understand CTF and AS and DM, but some of these extended combinations leave me in the dark. Also, I have downloaded and enjoyed a great many maps and agree it is a very easy process. There are numerous ones however, which simply won't run after installing them. I noticed that one of them mentioned that it required the UT Bonus pack. But there are several other UT2K4 maps which simply refuse to run. Any ideas?

Thanks again,
faaus

If you could give me the terms you don't understand, I'll be more than willing to enlighten you about what they mean. Welcome to mapraider :)

As for UTBonus pack, Epic Games has released a few official bonus packs like ECE (Editor's Choice Edition) and the Megapack not too long ago. Since these are official packs, downloads are often required to be up to date with the latest files. If you want to be completely up to date, I suggest that you download the Megapack, which has all the updates you need to be able to play all maps (except if the author of a map that doesn't work hasn't included the right files next to the official ones)

For your convenience, the Megapack can be found and downloaded here:

Hope this helps you out a bit :)
