Mapraider.com Map Search Browser Plugins

The Mapraider.com browser plugins is a collection of tools that allow you to search the Mapraider map database directly from your web browser.


Installation

Choose the appropriate plugin or bookmark for your web browser below and following the directions.



Plugins
Requires Mozilla compatible browser, including: Netscape 6, Firefox, Mozilla, etc. Safari plugin requires installation of the AcidSearch.enhancement.

Firefox: Click here to install the Mapraider search plugin for Firefox

Mozilla: Click here to install the Mapraider search plugin for Mozilla

Netscape: Click here to install the Mapraider search plugin for Netscape

Safari: After you've installed AcidSearch, download this archive, extract it, and use AcidSearch's "import channel" to select and import the unzipped plist file. If you'd rather not install AcidSearch, you can still use the Bookmark method discussed below.






Bookmark
Works with most browsers that support JavaScript in bookmarks, including: Netscape, Safari and Mozilla based browsers such as Mozilla, Firefox and Camino.

Control- or Right-Click the below link and select "Save as bookmark" or "Bookmark this link." Place the bookmark anywhere in your favorites and when you select it, you will be prompted for a search term automatically.

Safari users should drag the link to their bookmarks bar.

Search Mapraider

Note: You may need to rename your bookmark depending upon your browser. Look for a bookmark that starts with "javascript:x="




Custom Keywords
Works with some Mozilla based browsers that support custom keywords associated with bookmarks.

As with the general bookmark link above, add this link to your bookmarks. This will enable you to simply type a search paramater directly in your browsers address bar.

Next, go to the bookmark and assign a keyword such as "mrs" to it.

Once you've done that, you can now type something like the following in your address bar and it will call the search automatically:

mrs thorns

Troubleshooting

If one of these does not work for you, your browser is not compatible.

Opera users, for example, are out of luck. If you'd like to add Mapraider search to your copy of Opera, you'll need to manually editing your search.ini file and include the appropriate paramaters.

Internet Explorer users are also out of luck. Switch to Firefox or Safari already - you'll be glad you did :)
