This map is modeled after the 1980 Atari Game "Battlezone". Battlezone was the FIRST truly first person 3D game. It was the first game released on Atari's Vector Graphics Engine, and many of us spent MANY hours escaping life in the wonderful fantasy world of the tank !@#$%pit. Battlezone was so well received that the US Army actually contracted Atari to build a modified version to help them train their tank drivers.
One of the nice things about Battlezone was that you got a limited number of extra tanks. After 100,000 points, you never got another "guy", so you had to play carefully. I had several games that lasted 6-7 hours and were over 8 million points. Ahhh, those were the days...
Anyway, I just had a brainstorm to build this map. It is intended as complete nostalgia, and basically as a "shrine" to the legacy that Battlezone started in the video game world. (So if you work for Atari, please don't sue me... Lol) There were many features that I would love to have included from the original, but this map ALREADY gives me framerate trouble because of all the "stuff" that is visible at any one time.
This map is intended to be a wide open arena for the ESR enthusiast (note the author's clan affiliation), and plays well with both full and low gravity.
